A stay to transform you into a genuine archaeologist of modern times!
Retrace the history of prehistoric Man by analysing traces of his passage, and his development in his natural surroundings.
The discovery of the Grotte Chauvet cave and the traces of prehistoric Man in the Ardèche, has opened up a new field of knowledge of the past for us. Between open-air sports activities and cultural discoveries, this stay offers a global approach to the surroundings: the environment (geology), prehistoric-artistic (Palaeolithic Art in the world) and scientific (research techniques).
Did you know? The Grotte Chauvet in Pont d’Arc (or Grotte Ornée in Pont d’Arc – the decorated Pont d’Arc cave) was discovered in 1994 by two men and a woman: Jean-Marie Chauvet, Éliette Brunel and Christian Hillaire. The dating of the paintings and carbon-dating revealed an age of more than 30,000 years BC, which makes them the most ancient palaeolithic paintings of mankind.
