Our answers to your questions

FAQ

Home / FAQ
If you have a question on a booking for a canyoning weekend, on renting canoes in the Ardèche, or for all other questions, do not hesitate to consult our FAQ. The answer to your question will certainly be found here.
You haven’t found the answer to your question? Do not delay in calling us on +33 (0)4 75 87 27 23.

Canyoning

No jump is compulsory. If you do not wish to jump, this can always be avoided, except for jumps of 20 metres…
That depends on the season and the rivers. Our 5 mm neoprene wetsuits and our neoprene socks protect you very well from the cold.
Swimwear, a bottle of water, a picnic when you’re going for an entire day. If you are not hiring our canyoning shoes, a good pair of hiking or running shoes.
There is no need to be Aimee Willmott to do canyoning, knowing how to swim is enough. For children’s trips out, it is important that they are able to place their head underwater, and are not afraid of water.
In canyoning, you will be able to overcome your fears in complete safety. Unless you have a sickly dizziness (nausea, ophthalmologic disorders, the impression of the landscape moving), you will be able to do the majority of the canyons we offer. Our guides will reassure you with pleasure.

Yes, this is absolutely possible, just remember to bring a fastening cord, so as not to lose them.
Yes canyoning is possible with contact lenses, it will simply be necessary, should it be needed, to plan having a pair of glasses in a sturdy case that you put in a waterproof cannister, and remember to close your eyes during submersion in water.
We suggest canyoning shoes from specific hire points for the activity. If you do not wish to hire our shoes, you should provide hiking or running shoes.

Via cordata

Via Cordata or Via Corda is an aerial pathway combining a trip with a rope, walking, abseiling and Tyrolean traverse. Move on the natural terraces called “ledges”, whilst being secured on a rope already fastened or fastened by the instructor, as you advance.
Our via cordata trips start at 6 years old with the Via Cordata of the Jardins de Foussoubie. This course is accessible and enables an initial gentle approach to verticality.
The equipment provided for Via Cordata :
– harness
– straps
– helmet
– abseil device
For via cordata it is important that you provide closed shoes. From the most adapted to the least adapted: approach shoes, low hiking boots, trail running shoes, running shoes, sports trainers, well-fitted city shoes. No sandals or flip-flops. According to the weather conditions, appropriate sportswear: joggers or shorts for your lower half, technical T-shirt or cotton T-shirt for your top half, a second layer if necessary (softshell or polar). A rucksack with a capacity of around 10 litres.
It is important to completely dissociate vertigo and the fear of heights (acrophobia). Vertigo is the feeling of surrounding objects moving with a circular or oscillating movement. Having a fear of heights is having an extreme and irrational fear of heights. Whatever it is, it depends upon the degree of vertigo or fear of heights whether the activity can be carried out. Do not hesitate to contact us to discuss it. It will be our pleasure to advise you.

Via Ferrata

The Via Ferrata is a vertical course on a cliff equipped with cables, metal rungs, monkey bridges, Nepalese bridges and Tyrolean traverses. Monkey bridges are constructed of a cable for your hands, and another for your feet. The Nepalese bridges are comprised of three cables: 2 for the hands and 1 for the feet.
It is advised that your child is a minimum of 1 metre 40 cm, to be able to reach the bars, and attach themselves with a carabiner to the safety cables of the via ferrata.
An instructor on via ferrata is someone who entirely knows the surroundings that you are going to move about on. Going with someone with a complete knowledge of the surroundings, emergency and safety techniques is to go with peace of mind and completely make the most of your trip.
The material supplied on via ferrata :
– via ferrata strap with a canister
– harness
– helmet
– pulley for the Tyrolean traverses.

Potholing

The temperature of the caves is around 12°C. A light pullover and a tracksuit are recommended. Take your pair of hiking or running shoes and a complete change of clothes. Do not forget a little honey for the bears!
The temperature of the caves oscillates between 12°C and 14°C in the Ardèche.
For potholing trips for families with children: you will not find rope abseiling or narrow passages (passages involve crawling on all fours as a maximum). For intermediary and sports potholing trips: there will be narrow passages, but don’t worry as you will not be trapped, and the guide is there to reassure you.
It is not necessary to be particularly sports-orientated to do potholing. Potholing is not simply a sports activity. It is an exploration, research and discovery activity of the underground world. According to the trips, progress may require physical efforts to a greater or lesser extent. It is important to know your limits. The emotional aspect will be more relevant on a potholing trip. The guide is there to help you overcome your fears. Of course, if you suffer from severe claustrophobia, the activity is not advised.
Potholing is an activity done year-round. During winter periods some caves cannot be completed to enable bats to hibernate peacefully.

Canoe

In a canoe, it is imperative to have closed shoes. Flip-flops are prohibited. For your safety, you should have shoes which firmly attach to the foot.
Navigation of the Ardèche river is permitted from aged 7 upwards, if the person knows how to swim. If your child is under 7, navigation is possible, supervised by a canoe instructor. If they do not know how to swim, they will go in the instructor’s canoe.
For canoeing, you will need closed shoes and an outfit adapted for canoeing. We advise you to protect yourself from the sunshine with a hat, a pair of a sunglasses and a string to fasten them to you. You should provide your own sunscreen (preferably non-harmful to the environment), do not forget your legs! A hygiene mask is compulsory for the return in the shuttle bus.
The material provided for the canoe:
– a double paddle per person
– life jacket (wearing these is compulsory during the descent)
– A waterproof storage container to put your personal effects in
It is possible to take your dog for the 7-kilometre and 12-kilometre routes, as they are not accepted in the Ardèche gorges reserve (after the Pont d’Arc bridge). The dog should not be afraid of water and must know how to swim. We do not advise you to attach your dog to the canoe.
The nature reserve starts a few kilometres after the Pont d’Arc until the end of the descent. In this reserve it is prohibited to:
– Make a fire
– Leave rubbish
– Collect flowers
– Do wild camping
– Drink alcohol
– Let dogs roam free
– To navigate between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
– Use drones
– Create noise pollution (enclosures)
When your descent is over, a shuttle bus takes you back to your car, located at the departure point for the descent.

Cycling

No, it is preferable to wear trainer-type shoes, to protect your feet if you fall.
Yes, as you are using an electrically assisted bike and not an electric bike. As a consequence, electrical assistance sets off when you pedal.
Yes, the helmet is included in the rental price. Wearing a helmet for any child under 12 is compulsory, and it is highly recommended for adults. We remind you that in case of accident the head is affected in 1 in 3 cases.
In fact, we offer a range of routes adapted to everyone’s cycling practice and level.
We can offer you a dog trailer for your pet (from the limited stocks available).
For cycling, you need:
– a telephone with a charged-up battery
– a bottle of water or a full cycling water bottle
– a small rucksack
– A snack (cereal bar)
– Closed shoes of the trainer type
– Sunscreen (if possible not harmful to the planet)
– Sunglasses
